COM Shepherd's patriot ancestor is s from Lancaster County, Pennsylvania and at the age of 16 moved to serve in the militia in North Carolina in the years 1779 though 1781. His patriot ancestor was wounded during the attack by Tories on Ft. Orangeburg, S. C., and he was the only member of his contingent to escape capture.
