Floyd H. Strader

 

Floyd was born in Kansas City, Missouri and moved to Columbia, Missouri in the fall of 1950. He attended both country and city schools and the University of Missouri. He joined the United States Navy in 1961, receiving an Honorable Discharge in 1965. His service included three tours of duty in the Tonkin Gulf. Floyd worked at various jobs in Columbia and began working at the Harry S. Truman Veterans Administration Hospital in 1982, where he worked for about nine years. He worked for other governmental agencies for about 4 years.


Floyd has been doing genealogical research for about 40 years and has authored volumes of work on Boone County Missouri cemeteries. He has been featured in both local newspapers for his work done on locating and indexing county cemeteries. Floyd is a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and is a member of other organizations as well. He is currently working on at least three lines for membership in the Mayflower Ancestor Society.


Floyd's original SAR ancestor was George Wampler Sr.  He currently has 6 supplementals and 4 more being reviewed. His mother's DAR papers were on George Wampler and she had two DAR supplementals.
