Howard A. Hils, 91 year old prominent Moberlyan died early Thursday morning (15 DEC 2011) at his home. He had been in failing health only a few weeks.
Visitation will be from 2 until 6 pm Sunday at Carter Funeral Home in Moberly. Private family services will be Monday.
Mr. Hils, a retired businessman and civic leader, was a legend in Moberly. He loved the town and community.
A business owner and operator of supply stores in Illinois, after retirement he was extremely active, serving on a number of boards.
Just to mention a few, for a number of years he was on the Salvation Army Board, the Randolph County Sheltered Workshop Board, Magic City Line Mini Train and very interested in Moberly's Rothwell Park and youth activities and athletics especially at Moberly High School. He was also proud of his antique vehicles and enjoyed giving rides to friends and others especially children.
He was active in the Moberly Public School System while his children were in school and remained active since their graduation.
