Harold Henry Kerr II, of New Franklin, passed away at his home on August 7, 2021. He was 59 years old.

Harold was born on May 17, 1962 in El Cajon, California to Harold and Opal (Longmire) Kerr. He moved to Missouri in 1972 and attended school in Cole Camp, Missouri and Centralia, Missouri.

He received his Associate of Arts degree from State Fair Community College in Sedalia, Missouri in 1982 and his Bachelor of Science degree from Central Missouri State University in Warrensburg, Missouri in 1984. He worked as a Children's Service Worker with the Missouri Division of Family Service in Mexico, Missouri and Hannibal, Missouri.

He then received his Master of Science degree in Safety Management from Central Missouri State University in 1989 and then worked in the industrial safety field for approximately seven years.

Harold became disabled and began a hobby of performing genealogical research. He enjoyed reading about history, especially the Civil War. He enjoyed watching baseball, football and college basketball on television. He was a member of the Howard County Genealogical Society, the South Howard County Historical Society, the Cooper County Historical Society, the Civil War Preservation Trust and the Sons of the American Revolution M. Graham Clark Chapter. He had served as president of the Howard County Genealogical Society and had also served as president and secretary of Sons of the American Revolution M. Graham Clark Chapter.

Harold is survived by his sister, Mary Ellen Kerr and her two children, Morgan and Alexander and by several friends.

Memorial services will be held at 2:30 PM, Sunday, August 15, 2021 at Markland-Yager Funeral Home in New Franklin with J.Y. Miller officiating.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to the Howard County Genealogical Society.
