Kennith Eugene Wetzel, 65, of Moberly, went home to his Lord on Tuesday, December 31, 2013. He passed peacefully at his home after a two year battle with Myelodysplastic Syndrome, Myelofibrosis, and Leukemia.
Kennith was born at home on February 8, 1948, in Myrtle, MO. He was the first child of Wayland and Delores (Sanders) Wetzel.
Kennith was married to Michelle Clark and they have two children, Melissa and Kristopher.
After an honorable discharge from the U.S. Navy, serving 1968-1972, he started his career in law enforcement with Moberly Police Department in 1974. Kennith then went to work for the Missouri Department of Corrections in 1979, retiring as Chief Investigator in 2003.
Kennith was a member of Coates Street Presbyterian Church. He was also a member of the M. Graham Clark Chapter of Sons of the American Revolution.
Kennith, an avid outdoorsman, loved hunting and fishing. He was an excellent photo-grapher, sharing the beauty of nature with friends and family through his amazing photos.
Kennith is survived by his wife of the home; and children, Melissa Wetzel and Kristopher Wetzel; grandchildren, Kyle, Alisabeth, and Victoria Wetzel, Nathaniel Weant, and Ryan Brooks; brother, Gary Wetzel and wife Cristi; half-brother, Norval Ray; brothers-in-law, Blaine Clark and wife Nancy and Bobby Boling and wife Laura; as well as a Special Grandmother, Clara Young; along with numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was preceeded in death by both parents and half-siblings, Eddie Ray and Deanna (Ray) Clair; as well as mother-in-law, Earlene Boling and husband Charles; and father-in-law, Howard Clark.
Visitation on Monday, January 6, 2014 at Pathway Memorial Funeral Home. Services celebrating Kennith's life Tuesday, January 7, 2014, at the funeral home. Interment will follow with full Naval Military Honors at the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery in Jacksonville.
