COM Dietzel is a Mid-Missouri native and has spent time in Austin, Texas.

COM Dietzel is married to Nora Dietzel, who is a member of the DAR. They have two sons, one daughter-in-law, three grandsons and one granddaughter.

His patriot ancestors are Christopher Harris Sr and John Rimel.

In 2017 COM Dietzel retired from the Boone County Sheriff's Department with 30 years of service.

COM Dietzel is a Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War (SUVCW) member, having served as the Department of Missouri Commander and is a Past Camp Commander of the Columbia Tiger Camp 432.

COM Dietzel also has memberships with Sons of the American Legion, Society of the War of 1812, and Sons of Confederate Veterans.

Com Dietzel and his wife enjoy spending time with their grandchildren and time away in their camper trailer whenever possible.
