COM Robert Bartlett was born in 1925 in Newport News, VA. He was married to Ada Van Gelder for 62 years. The couple had 3 children and 8 grandchildren. After the passing of Ada, he married Priscilla LeBaron Bevins in 2013.
Bob was educated at Renesselaer Polytechnic Institute where he earned BME and MME degrees. He also attended Barbson Institute, to study business Administration.
In 1943 as part of the U.S. Navy V-12 program, Bob became a Navy Ensign, serving on the USS PC 1077. He left Navy duty in 1946.
Bob worked as a mechanical Engineer, doing product design and engineering management for 35 years.
He also taught mechanical engineering at Robert College in Istanbul, Turkey for 3 years. He was a consulting engineer and expert witness in product safety for 13 years and is a licensed professional engineer in Missouri, New York, Illinois, and Maryland.
